...so why hasn't the way you're taught?

The world moved on. Education didn't.
The mark gap
You can repeat a perfect Physics, Chemistry or Biology definition and still lose marks when a GCSE or IGCSE question asks you to apply it to a case, a graph, a practical or a real situation.
GCSE reality
01GCSE Science is about 40% application and 20% analysis/evaluation. Knowing the sentence helps, but using the idea gets the marks.
IGCSE reality
02Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Science puts roughly 38-42% on application/analysis and 19-21% on experimental skills and data.
Study science
03Practice testing and spaced practice are high-utility. Rereading and highlighting are much weaker when they are the whole plan.
Time to change
04A private tutor can help, but GCSE tutoring is often around £35-£50 an hour. Valloon is building targeted teaching into the product.
Valloon changes the GCSE and IGCSE Science loop: understand the idea, answer exam-style questions, repair the gap, then come back faster.
Sources: AQA, Ofqual, Pearson Edexcel, Dunlosky et al., Tutorful and Save My Exams. Research examples only. No grade guarantee.
I know the feeling of memorising pages of notes, recognising every flashcard, and still losing marks when the question changes.
Valloon started from that frustration: an AI tutor for GCSE and IGCSE Science that teaches the content until it makes sense, then makes you use it in questions, then repairs the exact gap.
Stop memorising sentences. Start learning how to use ideas.
